DoD AIT Policies: Understanding the Intersection of RFID and UID

Speakers:

James Clark, Director UID, XIO Strategies, Inc.

Mary Ann Wagner, President, XIO Strategies, Inc.

The DoD UID and RFID mandates are separate but related initiatives. This presentation will discuss where these technologies and initiatives can converge resulting in complete asset visibility.

11:45am – 1:30pm

Exhibits and Luncheon

Note: The exhibit hall will feature both RFID and UID vendors as the event this year is co-located with the OSD Sponsored UID & eBusiness Forum

Breakout Session : Within The Walls: Utilizing the Internal Benefits of RFID

Opening Remarks/Panel Moderator:Mary Ann Wagner, XIO Strategies

Presenters: Scott Wentz, RFID Solutions Center; Mike Bigbee, GlobeRanger; Barry Jones, Northrop Grumman

Panel Discussion: Paul Varian, PEO Robotics/Joint Robotics Command; Steve Buerle, Unisys; Brian Quinn, Lockheed Martin

Session Close: Susan Pearson, RFID Solutions Center

Much of the focus around RFID has been on the visibility it provides for assets moving through the supply chain. But the benefits of RFID don't stop there. in this workshop you will learn, first hand, from those currently using RFID in such applications as asset tracking and work in process monitoring, what the current state of RFID technology and deployment is, how to turn data into real intelligence, and how to utilize RFID enabled systems to augment your business processes.

1:30pm – 4:00pm

Breakout Session : Around the World: RFID and the Supply Chain in Action

Opening Remarks/ Panel Moderator: Jeff Holmes, PRTM

Presenters: Steve Ryan, RFID Solutions Center; Ravi Rishy-Maharaj, Omnitrol (IBM WebSphere), Mark Roddy, SAP
America, Inc.

Panel Discussion: Kristen Hedger, Dakota Defense Alliance; Steve Georgevitch, Boeing (JDAMS); Bob Bacon, Navy AIT PO; Julie Kuhn, Cardinal Health

Session Close: Amber Richards, RFID Solutions Center

With strategies and policies in place, now it's time to et down to business with RFID. In this workshop, you will hear from those using RFID for such applications as retrograde operations and materiel supply, on what is currently happening around the world with deployments, understand data visibility and the software component, and learn the intrinsic benefits from both the "sender" and the "receiver" of products in the supply chain.

Want to create an action plan to implement RFID? Attend this interactive workshop to learn more about RFID technology – ask your key questions and learn how you can utilize RFID not only to meet the DoD requirements, but to enhance your operational efficiencies. Understand which units need an RFID tag, what type of information should be encoded on the tag, and how to submit information through Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF). Various compliance options will be presented and you will be provided with a checklist so you can begin implementing RFID.
